The California Paramedic Foundation’s First Dose Buprenorphine (FDB) project addresses the opioid epidemic by supporting Local Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Agencies and EMS providers to provide treatment and access points for patients with an opioid use disorder. EMS agencies participating in the program will address substance use disorder as a treatable emergency condition, utilizing paramedics to identify and treat patients who would benefit from medication-assisted treatment and connect them with recovery services. Participating agencies include Yolo Emergency Medical Services Agency, Ventura County, and San Francisco Fire Department.
This project receives funding from the State Opioid Response (SOR) grant through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
