The Recovery Housing for Transitional-Age Youth (TAY) project aims to address the unique needs of young adults ages 18-24 with opioid or stimulant use disorders experiencing homelessness or housing instability. The project provides funding to county behavioral health agencies, California Tribes, and Indian health care programs to develop and enhance recovery-oriented housing and supportive services including rental assistance, interim housing, peer support, employment assistance, and childcare. By increasing access to these programs, the project seeks to improve treatment engagement, support long-term recovery, and promote housing stability among TAY across participating communities.
The Recovery Housing project receives funding through the State Opioid Response (SOR) grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and is coordinated by DHCS.
