Six California Counties to Host Process Improvement Events to Address Opioid and Substance Use Disorder
Through the Opioid Systems of Care (SOC) initiative, HMA is providing system-wide stakeholder engagement services, coaching and other technical assistance, on behalf of the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), to strengthen treatment and recovery ecosystems throughout the state, to develop a predictable and consistent knowledge base, and encourage safe transitions of care for individuals suffering from substance use disorder (SUD).
Six new counties have joined the SOC initiative and will be hosting virtual stakeholder convenings. The counties include Marin, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Siskiyou, and Yolo. Each county will participate in a large-scale process improvement event that invites members from different sectors of government, healthcare, health plans, and addiction treatment programs and services. During the event, attendees will participate in intense work sessions with a focus on identifying current treatment processes, barriers and gaps in these processes and an aspirational future state treatment system of care that is enlarged and strengthened for residents in need of addiction treatment and support services. The virtual events set the stage for adopting universal evidence-based tools for screening, assessment, and level of care determination. The events also feature didactic training on the neurobiology of addiction and fundamentals of using medication in treating SUD. Participants from these counties will receive a year of ongoing coaching and technical assistance following the events. The goal of the event is to yield heightened and consistent SUD treatment knowledge with stronger linkages amongst and between key stakeholders.
The event dates are:
- April 22 and 23 – Yolo and Santa Barbara
- May 6 and 7 – Siskiyou
- May 11 and 12 – Marin and San Bernardino
- May 18 and 19 – Santa Cruz
Participation is by invitation only. If you are interested in attending, please email jtagat@healthmangement.com.
