The Trauma of Climate Change and Fire in California: How to Better Prepare Ourselves, Our Communities and Those at Risk for Overdose

The past few years have seen increases in displacement and crisis related to climate disasters in California. Wild fires, heat waves, imminent flooding – all connected to the climate crisis – will disproportionately impact some communities more than others; including communities of color and those living in poverty, who already face higher rates of substance use disorder and overdose. This conversation will examine how climate change can impact a community’s mental health and will explore strategies for supporting community resilience during this critical time in our state.
